Gogobole Home Defenders strengthened their position on the log when they beat Madombidzha Try Again in a Limpopo Dairy match at Madombidzha on Sunday.

Try Again lost the game 1-0, despite the fact that they had more scoring opportunities than the visitors.

Try Again's fighting spirit was dampened when their two key players, Tony Marageni and Lutendo Leaka were warned with cards in the opening minutes. Marageni obstructed Mulalo Lethole, while Leaka was being punished for a foul he committed against Langanani Ramabila.

The home team nearly hit the target in the 25th minute, but Dakalo Ramuthivheli, who was undoubtedly the man of the match, cleared the ball away for a corner kick.

Dakalo Mabege tried his luck from outside the penalty area, but the Try Again acrobatic keeper, Andani Phathela, palmed the ball back into the field of play.

The local lads introduced Ndamulelo Phathela and Volcano Lethole early in the last half. This proved to be a clever move on the part of the technical staff of Try Again, as Defenders spent the better part of the last half running for cover.

The goal that separated the boys from the men came in the 78th minute. Musiwa Mutandari received a beautiful pass from Brighton Muravha and released a ground cutter from a close range.

What could have been the equalising goal for Try Again was turned into a nightmare, when Dakalo Ramuthivheli headed the ball away for a corner kick with his keeper well beaten.
