Four points for Leopards

Sport  Date: 20 February 2014

Black Leopards collected four points in two league matches played in the space of three days. They drew 2-2 with FC Cape Town at the Makhuvha Stadium last Wednesday afternoon, with Leonard Ntshangase and David Zulu scoring for the local team.

Lidoda Duvha were leading 2-0 when the teams adjourned for half-time. The team from the mother city made amends in the last half and scored two goals via Steven Louw and Daniel Dlamini in the 59th and 76th minute respectively.

The Thohoyandou outfit collected full points in their match against Blackburn Rovers, whom they beat 2-0 at the Sugar Ray Zulu Stadium in East London on Saturday. David Zulu scored the opening goal while their new signee, Rendani Ndou, was on target later in the game. Ndou was still fresh from a two-match suspension after seeing red in their game against Witbank Spurs at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Witbank three weeks ago, a match which Leopards won 3-1.

In the other National First Division League matches also played over the past weekend, Jomo Cosmos did the unexpected by beating African Warriors 2-0 at the Charles Mopedi Stadium.

Thanda Royal Zulu proved that they really mean it when they say they want to escape relegation at the end of the season. They rose to the occasion and crushed Sivutsa Stars 2-0 at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. Thanda Royal Zulu are still lying at the bottom of the log, despite collecting full points in the match.

Vasco Da Gama drew 3-3 with Maluti FET College at the Parow Park Stadium and Baroka FC continued to pave their way up by collecting the maximum points at the expense of FC Cape Town, whom they beat 2-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Santos and United played to a 1-1 draw at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
