Sweet revenge for Black Leopards

GIYANI – Dynamos continued their loosing streak in their PSL matches, when they went down 1-2 against Black Leopards at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday.

It is understandable for the loyal Dynamos fans to be shocked with their team's performance lately. They lost eight of their last nine matches, only beating relegation candidates African Wanderers 1-0 at Giyani on March 14. In the other eight matches, they lost 1-2 to Wits at the Milpark Stadium, 0-1 against Supersport United at the HM Pitje Stadium, 0-3 against Santos at Giyani, 1-2 against Golden Arrows at Chatsworth, 0-1 against Hellenic at the Greenpoint Stadium, 0-1 against Orlando Pirates at the Giyani Stadium, 3-5 against Moroka Swallows at Giyani and 1-2 against Leopards on Sunday.

Black Leopards went on depositing points into their league account by beating Dynamos 2-1 in their Castle Premiership League match that was played at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday. This was the appropriate revenge for Leopards, as they lost 1-2 to Dynamos in their first round encounter at the Thohoyandou Stadium on December 21, last year.

As usual, Lidoda Duvha scored their opening goal within the first five minutes. Mulondo Sikhwivhilu went loose from the left corner and beat the Dynamos' keeper Danny Phama in the 4th minute. The assistant coach for Dynamos, Steve Khompela started to shout vulgar words at the referee, Mr Ronny Marhule. He was given marching orders for that. Realising that there was no cohesion in the middle of the park, Dynamos fortified their centre half by introducing Lucas Maleka for Mpho Dagada. Maleka and the Leopards defender, Bongani Masangane were cautioned for rough tackles in the 18th and 24th minute respectively.

Dynamos retaliated in the 25th minute when Andries Sebola headed home a square pass from Gerald Mtshali to bring the half time score to 1-1. The home side effected two more changes to their starting line-up. Timothy Nkosi and Isaac Mumba came on for Phumlani Dindi and Sello Ledingwane in the 65th minute respectively.

Dynamos came back strongly after the two changes but they could not find their way through. Duncan Lechesa, the Leopards overlapping midfielder was cautioned for tackling Frank Makua roughly. Mulondo Sikhwivhilu put Leopards ahead when he tried his luck from the 25m area and left the Dynamos keeper a flabbergasted man.

Leopards later replaced Mulondo Sikhwivhilu, Wanani Mulaudzi and their injured captain, Thokozani Mnguni with Richard Lishivha, Helder Muinda and Jafta Mabosho.

The officials of Dynamos confronted the referee and his assistants with anger shortly after the last whistle, accusing them of favouritism. The league security officers who were beefed up by the members of the SAPS calmed the situation.
