The MMK Funeral Services League match between Rockers FC and Tshakhuma RO United, which was supposed to have been played at the Tshakhuma Malaria grounds on Sunday, did not materialize. The teams were already on the pitch 30 minutes before the scheduled 15:00 kick-off time, but there was only one match official.
Mr Mboniso Ndlovu started to check the players’ registration cards, with the hope that his two assistants would join him before long, but that was not to be. At about 15:20 Mr Ndlovu received a message from his superiors to wait for about 20 minutes for the arrival of his assistants.
While Mr Ndlovu was still busy checking the registration cards of the players, heavy rain started to fall. That prompted the players to leave the place. The pitch was more of a swimming pool than a playground when the two assistant referees, Mr V Maraga and Mr J Mammba arrived. At that stage, Mr Ndlovu had already called off the match.
Mr Mulalo Mafenya, the league’s administrative officer, told Limpopo Mirror that the match will be played on a date still to be announced.
