THOHOYANDOU - Not only did Black Leopards restore their lost pride when they beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 at the Ellispark Stadium on Saturday evening, but they also moved three places up on the league log. The Limpopo outfit is lying on the fifth spot from the bottom of the log.
This is the best position for them so far, considering the fact that they have been moving between the last and the second last position at the bottom of the log from the beginning of the season. They now have 27 points to their credit after playing 27 matches.
They are tied with Hellenic with the same number of points. Bush Bucks have a point less than Leopards and Hellenic while Ajax Cape Town has 25. Unlike Hellenic and Leopards, Bush Bucks and Ajax Cape Town have played 26 matches to date.
Lidoda Duvha must accumulate at least six points from their three remaining matches in order to be on the safe side. They must still play Santos FC, Wits University and Dynamos FC. Their fixtures against Santos and Wits University will be played at the Thohoyandou Stadium while their match against Dynamos will be played at the Giyani Stadium.
African Wanderers will be campaigning in the lower division next season. They have 18 points in hand. Orlando Pirates are now leading the pack after beating Dynamos 1-0 at the Giyani Stadium on Saturday. Wits University is close in the second spot with 49 points, one behind Pirates.
