Leopards give Chiefs a night to remember

JOHANNESBURG - Last Saturday was a day Kaizer Chiefs will never forget. They were brutally walloped 0-3 by the resurrected Black Leopards in their Castle Premiership League match played at the Ellispark Stadium in Johannesburg.

As if they were the home side, Lidoda Duvha dictated terms from the start with their midfielders distributing dangerous passes to the frontrunners. Cyril Nzama, the Chiefs right back made a back pass to his own keeper, Brian Baloyi four minutes into the game.

Sbusiso Dlamini, the Swaziland international intercepted the short pass and faced Brian Baloyi whom he easily beat. Realising that the ball was beyond his reach, Baloyi brought Dlamini down and the referee awarded a penalty to the visitors. Christopher Netshidzivhe gave Leopards a 1-0 lead from the white spot. The only living element on the Chiefs side was their dribbling wizard, Jabu Pule but it was difficult for him to find his way through the rock solid defence of Leopards that was marshalled by Thokozani Mnguni, Helder Muinga and Bongani Masangane.

Chiefs came close to scoring in the 30th minute when Stanton Fredericks went loose and unleashed a shot from close range, fortunately for the visitors, their keeper Walter Khumalo palmed the ball away for a corner kick. The Thohoyandou outfit increased the tally in the 38th minute.

Dingaan Masanabo left Brian Baloyi flatfooted after receiving a neat pass from Christopher Netshidzivhe. The score was still 2-0 at half time. Both sides effected several changes to their starting line-ups. Masanabo scored the third goal in the 75th minute. He headed home a square pass from Sbusiso Dlamini.
