MALAMULELE – Gezane Arsenal Football Club wrapped up their activities for the current season on a high note following a 3-0 victory over Mighty Football Club in a Vodacom Promotional League match that was played at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors looked weary from the onset and never made any threatening moves. Their frontrunner, Mokwete Phuthi was cautioned for an obstruction on Collen Hobyane. At that stage the game was 12 minutes old.
Arsenal found the net in the 18th minute. Phethole Maetsa beat the offside trap and ran a few steps forward before unleashing a powerful shot that saw the opponent's keeper, Johannes Mamamela going the opposite direction. The other player who went into the referee's book was Vutlari Chauke of Gezane Arsenal. His infringement was an intentional handling of the ball. The Malamulele based Arsenal went 2-0 up before half time. Shadrack Maluleke scored the second goal. He received a square pass from Vincent Chauke and blasted in a ground cutter from close range.
Gezane Arsenal introduced three players in the last half. Their new faces combined well with the midfielders. One of the substitutes, Muguyo Maluleke made his presence felt when he forced his way through the defence of Mighty and beat the keeper in the 84th minute.
