BA-PHALABORWA – The host team, Camela Young Killers, put up an unimpressive performance during the SafA Castle Regional League play-off tournament that was staged at the Lulekani Stadium in Ba-Phalaborwa from last Tuesday until Saturday.

Camela Young Killers played four matches in the tournament, from which they managed to collect only three points. Their opening match was played on Tuesday and was against a team from North West Province, Eersterus Kings Football Club. Kings beat Young Killers 1-0.

The only match that they had won was played on Thursday. They locked horns against Everest Young Killers from Free State, whom they beat 1-0. Camela Young Killers played their last two matches on Friday.

Their first match for the day was against Transwerk Football Club to whom they lost 2-4. They later tested their strength against Soweto United Football Club. Young Killers conceded two silly goals against Soweto United without any retaliation.

Camela Young Killers were perched in the fourth position in their group at the end of the tournament. The Eersterus Kings finished at the bottom of the log with three points as well. Although Everest Young Killers were in the third spot at the end of the tournament, they had three points in hand.

The second-placed team, Transwerk Football Club, played in the losers’ final match against their counterparts from the other group, Kwamashu All Stars, to compete for the third position on Saturday. Kwamashu All Stars beat Transwerk Football Club 1-0 in their losers’ final match.

The leaders from each group, Soweto United and Mbekweni Sundowns Football Club, met in the finals on Saturday. The team from the Western Cape, Mbekweni Sundowns Football Club was crowned the champions of the tournament after beating Soweto United 2-0.
