The current log leaders, Madombidzha Western Stars, deposited full points into their league account when they beat Makhitha Oscar Stars 2-0 in their MMK Insurance Brokers League match at Madombidzha on Sunday.
Percy “Quantum” Munonoka was a marvel to watch. He scored a brace during the match. Western Stars abused countless scoring opportunities in the opening minutes. Maanda Magoro unleashed prematurely, instead of moving a few steps towards the keeper.
The only player who was booked for rough tackling was Faith Ratombo of Stars.
Munonoka scored the first goal from 30 meters away. Itani Selota should have equalised, but his shot was palmed away by keeper Tshimangadzo Masala. The half-time score was 1-0 in favour of Western Stars.
Western made two replacements in the second half. They introduced Thabo Matuba and Ridovhona Singo for Tshlidzi Leshi and Lucky Molwa respectively. The replacements changed the complexion of the game, as the host team continued fight like a team. The second goal of Western came in the 79th minute. They were awarded a free- kick that was taken by Maanda Magoro. Percy Munonoka found the net after a rebound.
