Successful winter games in Musina

MUSINA - Several youth sports teams under the jurisdiction of the Musina Municipality received prizes for their performances in the town’s winter games during a ceremony at the local show grounds last Friday evening.

The mayor, Cllr David Phologa, said that the main purpose of the winter games is to involve the young people in sport and to identify talent. Phologa praised the organising committee, led by Cllr Caroline Mahasela, for their hard work. He added that the winter games will be an annual event.

The winners in the netball competition, Taribo, went home with R600, and Super Site collected the prize of R400 as the runners-up. In tennis, Percival Ndou was the winner and he received R250. The second-placed Oriel Muleya won R150.

The Keep on Dream team won the cricket and they received R600. The second-placed Dream Team received R400.

In the volleyball, Makafuto were the champions and received R400, with Supervision coming second.

In the ladies soccer, Man United were the champions and the team received R1 000, followed by Madibo FC, who banked R800 and Sister Park FC collected bronze medals.

In the rugby, the Sharks pocketed R400 and the Bulls R600.

In the men’s soccer, FC Gunners were the winners and collected R1 500, and FC Porto received the prize of R1 200.

In the beauty pageant, Lucy Rasisu was named Miss Winter games and won R500. The second prize was awarded to Johanna Muleya and the third prize of R300 was won by Rebecca Mulaudzi.
