Dangerous Scorpions sting the Mangos

Shandani Dangerous Scorpions booked a place in the next stage of the prestigious MTG Soccer Challenge KO Competition by beating Tshilulu Mighty Mangos 4-2 at the Khubvi Benjies grounds on Saturday.

It took Dangerous Scorpions only nine minutes to stamp their authority. They were awarded a free kick after Ipfani Siphuma was brought down just outside the box. Given Sikhipha tried his luck from the free kick and the keeper of Mighty Mangos, Shadrack Rikhotso, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net.

Mangos retaliated four minutes later. Lufuno Mphephu finished off a rebound after a scramble within the box.

Dangerous Scorpions were reduced to 10 men in the 34th minute. Their midfielder, Mulangi Tshisaphungo, was given his marching orders for tackling Thihanedzwi Mbedzi from behind. Dangerous Scorpions did not lose their initial fighting spirit, despite the setback. They took the lead five minutes into the last half. Rotondwa Mutsivhuli went loose from the right corner before unleashing a powerful shot that looked too hot for the Mangos keeper, Shadrack Rikhoso, to handle.

Mighty Mangos lost shape in the middle of the park after the goal. Dangerous Scorpions capitalized and increased the tally in the 64th minute. They were awarded a penalty after Ndaedzo Ramagoma was brought down within the box. Rotondwa Mutsivhuli converted from the penalty spot to make it 3-1.

Ndivhuwo Munyai of Mangos was also given his marching orders for a second bookable offence. Mighty Mangos were also awarded a penalty in the 70th minute. This after a defender of Scorpions handled the ball within his own penalty area. Rudzani Makhale made no mistake from the white spot.

The goal was an insult to Dangerous Scoprions as they scored again via Given Siphuma late in the game.
