Professional boxing tournament in Giyani

The Giyani Town Hall will be the centre of attraction tomorrow evening as the Tshiawelo Sports and Cultural Development, in conjunction with Hlanganisa Sports Promotions, will stage a professional boxing tournament.

According to the matchmaker, Mr Ephraim Simba, for first time in the province, women will feature in the main bout.

The South African woman bantam weight title champion, Bukiwe Nonina, will defend her title against Nolubabalo Nqgodelane in the main bout, which is scheduled over ten rounds. The main supporting bout will be the provincial super middleweight title bout between Ranson “Baghdad” Hobyane and Hanson Baloyi over ten rounds.

Sparks are expected to fly when Thembani Hobyane exchanges blows with Godfrey Nemukongwe in their featherweight bout, which will take place over six rounds. The other bout that is also scheduled for six rounds will be a junior flyweight fight between Paul Masindi from a local stable and Thabo Moabi from Gauteng.

Deon Mmbubana and Pfariso Khorommbi will be the first to enter the ring. Their featherweight bout is scheduled over four rounds.
