A goal in the 79th minute goal by substitute Rendani Ndou was good enough to keep Black Leopards in the race for promotion to the Absa Premiership. Lidoda Duvha beat Milano United 1-0 in their promotional play-off match at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Wednesday evening.
The Thohoyandou outfit must beat Polokwane City in their last match at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday to secure a place in the country’s elite league. Wednesday’s victory jacked up Black Leopards to six points, one behind Polokwane City, or Rise and Shine as they are affectionately called. While Black Leopards will be in need of nothing less than a victory, a draw will see Polokwane City retain their Absa Premiership franchise.
Apart from their leading goal scorer, David Zulu, who is still nursing a groin injury, Black Leopards will be without their diminutive midfielder, Karabo Tsepe on Sunday. Tsepe was given his 4th yellow card on Wednesday, putting him out of action for one match. Asked how they will approach the game on Sunday, Leopards’ head coach, Mr Kostadin Papic, said that they would go all out and that a draw will do them more harm than good.
Leopards have a score to settle with Polokwane City. They were beaten 0-1 in their first round promotional play-off match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Wednesday evening.
Fans who would like to attend the game at the Giyani Stadium can phone Israel on 076 619 5777. Transport is available from all corners of Vhembe and for only R50 supporters will be able to support their favourite team.
