Although they were trailing 0-1 at half time, Cobra Stars did not give up. Instead they continued to fight like a united team and finally scored two goals to beat Banyini Flying Swallows 2-1 in their MTG Soccer Challenge KO match at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.

The game was characterized by wasted scoring opportunities. Swallows were the first to disappoint their fans. Their overlapping midfielder, Lucky Hlungwani, received a neat pass from Dakalo Sadiki and unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box. The ball hit the woodwork and landed outside the field of play for a goal kick.

Swallows' goal came in the 24th minute. Dakalo Sadiki was brought down within the box and thus prompted the referee to award them a penalty. Mudalo Khomola made no mistake from the spot.

Flying Swallows were the first to effect a change to their starting 11. They replaced Khuthadzo Khorommbi with Khumbudzo Muthaphuli towards the end of the first half.

Flying Swallows continued to fight as a collective unit in the opening minutes of the last half. Their technical staff committed suicide by replacing Moses Makhwebe and Khuliso Negondeni with Fhumulani Makhwebe and Azwinndini Negondeni respectively in the 67th minute. That was the turning point of the game as Cobra Stars started to dictate terms. They pulled one back via Thembuluwo Mabula in the 69th minute. Mabula forced his way through the defence of Swallows and blasted in a ground cutter just outside the box.

Mabula was warned with a card for handling the ball intentionally two minutes later. Ndamulelo Ravhura scored the winner for Cobra Stars from a free kick six minutes before the final whistle.
