MAMUHOYI – Mr Samuel Maduwa has resigned as an active referee, to become a Referees’ Instructor of the Northern Province East Region.
Maduwa and Mr Adams Shai of the Ritavi District Football Association were recommended to the South African Football Association for a five-day Referees' Instructors Course, held in Johannesburg from the 18th to the 22nd of this month. Out of the 44 retired referees from the 25 SAFA regions, 18 candidates, including Maduwa, passed. This means that Maduwa has the responsibility of making sure that referees are given the necessary training to improve their skills in refereeing or to become referees.
Maduwa has a vast experience in refereeing. He has been in this field for many years. He officiated games under the defunct Venda Football Association and the Great North East Province. He passed intermediate, elementary and national referees examinations.
He is a teacher by profession and the Public Relations Officer of the Dzanani District Football Association. Maduwa also served for Phalaphala FM as a correspondent sports reporter.
