Mukula Young Santos are ready for the SAB League provincial play-offs that will soon be staged at the Giyani Stadium.
According to the team’s coach, Mr Eric “Taylor” Nevhutanda, everything is going well with their preparations and they continued to train as usual after their last champ-of-champs matches three weeks ago.
Young Santos beat Rockers FC through a penalty shootout after a 1-1 stalemate at full time to secure a place in the provincial playoffs.
Nevhutanda added that they had played a number of friendly matches during the past weeks as part of their preparations for the provincial play-offs. Their most recent preparatory match was against Mukula Fast XI, who beat them 4-3 in the final of the Mukula Safety and Security Soccer Challenge last Saturday.
The champions from the five regional associations will battle it out in the provincial play-offs. The best two teams in the play-offs will be promoted to the Safa Second Division. Santos will pin their hopes on players like Tshimangadzo “Papi” Managa, Sharlen Munyamela and their vastly experienced overlapping midfielder, Humphrey “Ndoza” Takalani. Their goalkeeper, Ronewa Mavhungu, is one of the best in the league.
The Vhembe Regional Association was represented by Joe Express FC in the provincial play-offs last season. Bellevue Winners Park, together with Joe Express FC, gained promotion to the higher division after finishing in the first and second position respectively.
