Gogobole Home Defenders deposited three points into their account when they beat Maebane Peace Makers 1-0 in a Limpopo Diary League match played at Gogobole on Sunday.

Makers approached the match like a house on fire, with their midfielders distributing good passes to their strikers. They threatened to score in the early minutes when Mulalo Mashau forced his way through the defence of Defenders. He passed the ball to Ambani Maboko, who missed the target by inches.

In the 28th minute, Defenders pressed hard in search of more goals. Realizing that their chances were slim, Makers abandoned their positions and packed themselves at the far back. Maboko unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box and the keeper of Defenders, Mulalo Maphaha, saved the ball.

Shandukani Phadziri and Tshishonga Tshishonga of Defenders were booked for different infringements. The home team brought on Dakalo Mabege for Mulalo Lithole. His introduction changed the complexion of the match as he dished dangerous passes to his team strikers.

Makers should have scored, but their chance was denied by acrobatic goal keeper Mulalo Maphaha, who palmed the ball out for corner kick. The veteran player, Tshimomo Mbambu of Defenders, scored his team's goal in the 74th minute after he finished off a square ball from Tondani Phadziri.
