Three league points for Madombidzha

Maebane Young Eagles donated three points to Madombidzha Arsenal, when they lost 0-1in an MMK Insurance Brokers match at Madombidzha on Sunday.

Eagles was good at the far back, but heir midfielders hesitated for too long and did not realease the ball on time to the goal poachers. This sloppy performance put the defence under tremendous pressure.

Arsenal initiated some promising moves from the centre of the pitch but were denied a number of scoring opportunities by the rock-solid defence of their opponents.

Players who went to the referee’s book for different infringement are Sipho Mudalana and Ngudo Machaba of Arsenal and Tshilidzi Sioga of Eagles. The boys from Madombidzha introduced Matodzi Mutagwa and Mbengeni Rambuwani for Rapelani Leaka and Edwin Makhuvha respectively in the 70th minute. Eagles replaced Ivan Ramatjie with Talifhani Mbedzi. The replacement of Arsenal changed the complexion of the match as they were all over the Eagles.

Matodzi Mutangwa scored his team's only goal in the 76th minute. The goal was a wake-up call to the players of Eagles, who came back strongly. They were prevented from scoring by excellent work from keeper Hector Malange.

The boys from Maebane were lucky not to concede half a dozen of goals during the second half, as they were out of touch in all departments.
