GIYANI – Dynamos made use of their home ground advantage and collected full points from their Castle Premiership League match against African Wanderers that was played at the Giyani Stadium last Friday.
Wanderers lost the game 0-1, despite the fact that they had more scoring chances than the home side.
Dynamos' fighting spirit was lowered when their two key players, Sello Motshumi and Irvan Zwane were warned with cards in the opening minutes. Motshumi obstructed Joseph Dladla, while Zwane was being punished for the foul he committed against David Mabuza.
The team from Durban nearly hit the target in the 25th minute, but Irvan Zwane, who was undoubtedly the man of the match, cleared the ball away for a corner kick, just before it crossed the goal line. Eric Gumbaza tried his luck from outside the penalty area, but the Dynamos acrobatic keeper, Aime Kitenge, palmed the ball back into the field of play.
The goal that separated the boys from men came in the 38th minute. Lucas Maleka received a beautiful pass from Josam Ndou and released a ground cutter from the close range. What could have been the equalising goal for Wanderers, was turned into a nightmare, when Irvan Zwane headed the ball away for a corner kick with his keeper well beaten.
Dynamos introduced Joel Seroba and Phumlani Dindi early in the last half. This has proved to be a clever move on the part of the technical staff for Dynamos, as Wanderers spent the better part of the last half running for cover.
