Last Sunday was a sad day for Vleifontein United, when they were hammered 5-1 by Zamenkomste FC in an MMK Insurance Brokers league match at Zamenkomste.

It was evident from the start that Zamenkomste would win the match, as United were outclassed in all departments. The visitors, United, nearly took the lead in the 10th minute, when their bulldozer striker, Thendo Mudau, went loose and shot wide from the edge of the box. Nditsheni Musekwa opened the scoring in the 14th minute. He increased the margin with a second goal when he beat the keeper with a marvellous shot.

The United midfielders took it upon themselves to distribute telling passes to the strikers. Nathaniel Makhudzha forced his way through the defence of United and chipped the ball to Musekwa to complete his hat trick, with a header to make the half-time score 3-0.

United made two replacements early in the last half. Musiwa Tshidavhu and Vhutshilo Musetha came on for Thendo Mudau and Rofhiwa Raulinga respectively. Their introduction did not change the complexion of the game as Zamenkomste were dictating terms in the middle of the park.

Ronewa Hamisi of United scored the only goal of his team in the 79th minute. Zamenkomste scored their fourth goal via Nkhumeleni Makovhololo, who beat the keeper, Tsumbedzo Mudau.

The fifth goal came in the 87th minute, when Thabelo Mamafha received the ball from the centre line and beat three defenders. He passed the ball to Nkhumelani Manenzhe, who sent it back to him to give it the final touch.
