JOHANNESBURG – Moroka Swallows registered a 4-2 victory over Black Leopards in a Castle Premiership League match played at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, thanks to their Nigerian keeper, Greg Etafia.
That was Etafia's ninth unbeaten game since he joined the club three months ago. Leopards would have scored at least five goals had it not been for Etafia's acrobatic goalkeeping. The new Leopards signee Dingaan Masanabo was a difficult man to mark. He eluded the Swallows defence as he kept running from the onset.
On the other hand, Lidoda Duvha's goalkeeper, Walter Khumalo also displayed a splendid performance. He denied the opposition several sure chances. The home-side was taken aback when Masanabo broke the ice in the 16th minute against the run of play and caught Etafia off-guard.
The goal acted as a catalyst for "The Birds". It was therefore not surprising that Lucas Sebona equalised from Papi Mbhele's pass seven minutes thereafter. Swallows tried to use offside traps and nearly paid dearly for that as Masanabo and Sbusiso Dlamini took advantage of the situation. The home team took the lead through Gavin Manuels in the 49th minute.
Adam Ndlovu increased the tally moments after this goal, with a blistering shot that beat the Leopards keeper. Leopards reduced the margin in the 74th minute via Mulondo Sikhwivhilu but Peter Rabolele scored the final goal for Swallows in the 78th minute to bring the final score to 4-2.
