Difficult hurdle for Black Leopards

Sport  Date: 31 January 2003

THOHOYANDOU – After losing 0-2 to Hellenic in Cape Town last Saturday, Black Leopards are again faced with another tricky hurdle this weekend. They take on Orlando Pirates at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow.

The Buccaneers are expected to collect full points from this match if Black Leopards' recent performance is anything to go by. They are still to win a league match since they came back from their Christmas recess. The poor performance has led Leopards to drop to the second spot from the bottom of the log.

They are tied at 12 points each with African Wanderers.

The managing director of the team, Mr David Thidiela has appealed to the clubs' enthusiastic supporters to stay calm saying they will bounce back. Though it looks impossible, Thidiela is still optimistic that his team will be among the top eight when activities of the current season come to an end.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:30.

In the match that will be played tomorrow, Bush Bucks will fight for points with Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Absa Stadium in East London. Two matches will be played at various venues tonight. Manning Rangers and African Wanderers will meet at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.

Dynamos and Ajax Cape Town will lock horns at the Newlands Stadium in Cape. The kick off time for all matches is 20:00.

Four matches will be played on Sunday. Moroka Swallows will play against Supersport United at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.

Jomo Cosmos and Hellenic will fight for points at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa while Sundowns Football Club will host Santos at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria. Kaizer Chiefs and Wits University will rub shoulders at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg.
