Away-point for Baroka FC vs Vasco

Sport  Date: 12 December 2014

Vasco da Gama and Baroka FC played to a 1-1 draw at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town. The home side snatched an early goal through Nathan Gertse, following a mix-up within the box, and the visitors from Limpopo found the equalizer via Irvin Shiburi 15 minutes before the final whistle.

Cape Town All Stars secured one of the memorable results of the season, when they thrashed high-flying Lamontville Golden Arrows 5-1 at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday evening. All Stars showed no respect for the visitors and the former Bidvest Wits striker, Muhammed Patel, scored twice in the early minutes the match. A superb shot from close range by Arrows’ Sphelele Zwane in the 28th minute restored hope to Arrows, but Patel completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half time.

The other two goals for Stars were scored by Amigo Memela and Houston Hills.

A goal in the referee’s optional time by Samukelo Nkosi was good enough to give Highlandspark three points at the expense of African Warriors. Thanda Royal Zulu ended Jomo Cosmos’s five-match winning streak when they shocked them 2-1 at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. Michael Gumede and Ace Bengu scored for Thanda Royal Zulu, while Cosmos’s goal was registered in Brice Aka’s name.

Back home, Black Leopards made a comeback after seven outings without a win. They beat FC Cape Town 2-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium. Maluti FET College beat Witbank Spurs 2-0.
