The opening matches of the annual Zama Zama Soccer Challenge will be played at the Homu 14 B Sports grounds next Wednesday, 17 December.
Four matches will be played. It remains to be seen whether Gwambe Hungry Lions will prey on Big Lions FC when they lock horns in the opening match at 10:00. Thomo Dynaros and Bode Arrow Mountain will meet in the next match, in what promises to be a thriller. Hatshama Peace Makers and Gawula Movers will follow at 14:00, while the activities for the day will be wrapped up by the match between Mhlahlandela FC and Dzekula Sky Masters.
Four matches will be played at the same venue the following day. The fixtures are Ntsemi FC vs Moonlight FC (10:00), Mavalani Real Mighty Boys vs Khakhala United, Mtititi Giant Reefs vs IBC All Stars and Mboni Junior Chiefs vs Manchester United.
Friday's matches are Church Super Eagles vs Dzingidzingi FC, John Mabasa FC vs Homu Fighters, Khumbula Stars vs Thomo All Stars and KYD vs Mapayeni Gladiators.
According to the tournament director, Mr Joel Baloyi, this year’s champions will receive R15 000, as well as a soccer kit, floating trophy and gold medals. The runners-up will take home a cash prize of R10 000 and silver medals, while the teams booted out in the semifinal stage will each receive R4 000. Individual awards will be presented to the top goal scorer, player of the tournament, goalkeeper of the tournament, best coach of the tournament and the best referee.
The final is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, 31 December.
