THOHOYANDOU – Black Leopards must collect full points in their all-important Castle Premiership match against African Wanderers at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow. Failure to collect maximum points from this fixture may mean that the local team will be campaigning in the lower division next season.
Leopards are currently lying on the second spot from the bottom of the log with eight points in hand. On the other hand Wanderers are languishing at the bottom of the log with three points less than the local lads. Both have played 16 matches to date.
Wanderers and Leopards have each collected a point from their last weekend fixtures. Wanderers played to a 1-1 draw against Moroka Swallows while Leopards, who were leading 2-0 at half time, were finally held to a 2-2 draw by Lamontville Golden Arrows at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
The match is scheduled for 15:30. In the other fixture also to be played tomorrow, Orlando Pirates will test their strength against Supersport United at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. This match will be screened live on television.
Only one match will be played tonight. Manning Rangers who are still mourning their 1-3 defeat at the hands of Dynamos will host Santos at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban starting at 20:00. Four matches will be played on Sunday at various venues.
Moroka Swallows and Hellenic will fight for league points at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg while Jomo Cosmos will meet Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa. The match between Sundowns and Wits University will be played at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
Kaizer Chiefs will travel to Cape Town to play against Ajax Cape Town at the Newlands Stadium. Two matches will be played next week Wednesday, January 22. Jomo Cosmos and Orlando Pirates will meet at Orlando Stadium while Santos will entertain Bush Bucks at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
