Themba Sunrise Riders collected three valuable league points by beating Lufule Flying Bombers 3-0 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Sunday.

Bombers played the first 15 minutes of the game with two men down as two of their regular players arrived late for the game. Sunrise Riders capitalized on the setback and scored their opening goal when the game was only nine minutes old. Their sharpshooter, Dakalo “Akonkwo” Nemakonde, who scored a brace in the game, was on target, following a beautiful pass by Thendo Mathobo.

Thendo Nemudzivhadi of Flying Bombers was booked for a late tackle on Aluwani Masala in the 17th minute. Nemakonde caused an upset in the 24th minute. He dribbled past three defenders in a row and unleashed a ground cutter from the edge of the box. The ball landed in the keeper’s hands, as there was not enough power behind it. Ntakadzeni Nendauni committed a similar blunder three minutes later.

Sunrise Riders were still leading 1-0 when the referee blew the half-time whistle. Aluwani Masala of Sunrise Riders was cautioned with a yellow card for talking to the fans while the game was going on. Flying Bombers missed a fortune when their right winger, Mutsila Mahase, forced his way through the defence of Riders and lost possession within the box.

Akonkwo Nemakonde was on target again in the 64th minute. This time around, he finished off a square pass from Aluwani Masala. Nemakonde turned the provider when his side scored the third via Ntakadzeni Nendauni. Nendauni was replaced with Rofhiwa Rasivhaga shortly after scoring his side’s third goal.
