Professional boxing at Dzanani

DZANANI – Tshiawelo Boxing Promotion will take professional boxing closer to the people by staging a tournament at the Makhado College of Education Hall at Dzanani (formerly known as Makhado Town) early next month.

The tournament will be staged on Saturday evening, February 12. Nine bouts will be seen live during the tournament. Pfariso Neluvhada and Fhumulani Netshapala, both from the local stables, will be the first to enter the ring. Rialivhuwa Makhanthisa and Phathutshedzo Ratshifheti will face each other in the second bout.

Avhaathu Muleka will test his strength against a Mpumalanga opponent, Arnold Matyi. Their lightweight fight is scheduled over four rounds.

Justice Hlungwane will meet Maxwell Mpofana in a light-weight fight that is also scheduled over four rounds.

The other light-weight fight that is scheduled for the same number of rounds will be between a local boy, Norman Tshisikhawe, and Schoeman Sindane from Mpumalanga. The fight that is expected to keep the spectators on the edge of their chairs will be between Ntshengedzeni “Huggerboy” Netshivhera and Simon Mokoena from Gauteng.Netshivhera, who has lost all of his previous five fights, is expected to make a comeback at the expense of Mokoena. The fight is scheduled over six rounds. Thomas Sadike, who hails from this province, will entertain a Gauteng-based opponent, Sibusiso Nqcobo.

The main supporting bout will be be-tween Zachariah Mudau and Martin Manyandu from Gauteng. Nkosinathi Tshinavhe will exchange blows with Stanley Zondo from Kwazulu Natal in the main bout that is scheduled over eight rounds.
