After dropping important points in their last three matches, Tshakhuma Na Ndilani FC made amends and registered their first victory this year when they beat Rockers FC 1-0 in their MMK Administrators Soccer League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday.

The game was characterized by wasted scoring opportunities. The Tshakhuma team could have taken the lead in the eighth minute, but their centre forward, Rofhiwa “Danger” Netshiungani, fumbled with the ball at the goal mouth.

The Rockers’ defence, which was marshalled by Tsumbedzo Manamela and Ntsieni Nengovhela, showed consistency throughout the game. They denied the strikers of Tshakhuma numerous obvious goals. Manamela made his presence felt in the 25th minute. He cleared the ball away from the goal line with his keeper, Tshimangadzo Matamba, already beaten.

The referee, Mr TE Mapasa, flashed the first yellow card in the 36th minute. Rolivhuwa Mukwevho of Tshakhuma was booked for a dangerous tackle on Vhugala Singo. Rockers threatened to score four minutes before the half-time whistle. Their Rastafarian midfielder, Mukondeleli Tshivhula, forced his way through the defence of Makhurabada and lost possession within the penalty box.

The goal which earned Tshakhuma Na Ndilani three important points came in the 67th minute. Rofhiwa Netshiungani found the net with a ground cutter. He received a beautiful pass from Fhatuwani Mudau.

Both sides played the last 20 minutes of the game with 10 men. Mukondeleli Tshivhula of Rockers and Rofhiwa Netshiungani of Makhurabada were given their marching orders for exchanging blows on the field. Makhurabada played defensive football for the remaining part of the game.

Tshakhuma Na Ndilani beat Shayandima Power Stars by the same margin at the Shayandima grounds the following day.
