HAMASHAU – A well-known local boxer, Mpho “Silverfox” Tshiambara, is an angry man. The reasons for his anger is that his former promoter, Mr Rob McLeod, is allegedly tarnishing his name by telling the people that he relies on muti when he is in the boxing ring.

Tshiambara was reacting to the story that appeared in one of the Sunday newspapers recently. In the story, McLeod stated that most of his boxers, including Tshiambara, were neglecting training and relying mostly on their sangomas.

McLeod reiterated that during a telephonic interview this week. He indicated that Tshiambara used to ask him to use his cellphone to make a call to his mutiman each time they went for a weigh-in. He stated that Tshiambara lost one of his fights against Welcome Ntshingila, because he took some muti and started vomiting shortly before the fight. According to McLeod, Tshiambara became very weak after vomiting and ultimately lost the fight. He stated that he finally told Tshiambara that he did not want to work with him anymore. According to him, he parted ways with Tshiambara two months ago.

He revealed that Silverfox was still owing him some money when they parted ways in December. Tshiambara denied everything, saying that what McLeod had said was far from the truth. He stated that if at all he was using muti, McLeod would have gone public when they were still working together.

He indicated that the fact that McLeod has started badmouthing him after their acrimonious separation was a clear indication that his aim was to tarnish his good image. Tshiambara’s relationship with the McLeod Boxing Promotion started early last year.

Tshiambara is one of the products of the Sibasa Boxing Club, which is under the leadership of Mr John Nemakonde. He fought five times under the banner of the McLeod Boxing Promotion. He won four of the fights and lost the controversial one against Welcome Ntshingila.
