Golden Arrows reclaim top spot again

Sport  Date: 13 March 2015

Lamontville Golden Arrows are shining on top of the National First Division League log again.

Golden Arrows, or Abafana Besthende, proved all their critics wrong and beat the other title chasers, Jomo Cosmos, 3-1 at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Saturday. They are now leading the pack with 41 points, two ahead of Cosmos.

Although it was an away match for them, Baroka FC managed to come back from Cape Town with a point in hand. The Limpopo team came back from a 1-2 half-time deficit and held Milano United to a 2-2 draw at the Athlone Stadium.

Santos failed to hold on to their 1-0 lead to the end, as they played to a 1-1 draw with Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. After losing 0-2 to Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium two weeks ago, Witbank Spurs made amends and deposited a vital point into their league account last weekend. They shared the spoils with FC Cape Town, with whom they played to a 2-2 draw.

African Warriors moved a step up the log, following their convincing 3-1 victory over Garankuwa United at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in Phuthaditshaba. Garankuwa United were the first to find the net, but their stamina vanished with time.

Cape Town All Stars continued to pave their way up by beating Royal Eagles 2-0 at the Philipi Stadium in Cape Town. Maluti FET College were the hardest hit. They lost 0-5 to Highlandspark at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa. Vasco da Gama donated league points to Black Leopards, to whom they lost 0-1 at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
