Difficult road for Limpopo’s Baroka

Sport  Date: 17 April 2015

Baroka FC jeopardised their chances of booking a place in the promotional play-offs at the end of the season, following their 0-2 defeat at the hands of Jomo Cosmos in their NFD match at the Vaal University of Technology Stadium on Saturday.

Baroka soon realized that it was not their day when they squandered two early chances. First it was their lethal striker, Mpho Kutumela, who received a neat pass from Jerry Kekana at the edge of the penalty box and hesitated for far too long to unleash, until he lost possession. Kekana was to blame moments later. He could not believe his eyes when his volley missed the target by inches.

The victory means that Jomo Cosmos are on track for the league title. They are in the second spot, only a point behind Lamontville Golden Arrows. One of the league title chasers, Thanda Royal Zulu, were beaten 1-2 by Milano United at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

Santos were walloped 0-4 by Highlandspark at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa. African Warriors beat Maluti FET College 4-2 at the Charles Mopedi Stadium at Phuthaditshaba, while Garankuwa United taught Witbank Spurs a lesson by beating them 4-1 at the Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria.
