Joe Express are still in a joyous mood after beating Mighty FC 4-1 in their ABC Motsepe League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Monday afternoon.

As if they were going to bury the home side alive, Mighty FC were the first to find the net. In the ninth minute, their aggressive striker, Brain Itoya, received a pre-cooked pass from Abraham Ogboru and dribbled past three defenders in a row before beating the keeper.

Mighty’s solitary goal was an insult to the players of Joe Express. They regrouped from behind, initiating some promising moves as they approached the opponents’ danger area. They fought back and in the 19th minute, Kabota Maduka tried his luck from outside the box. A defender of Mighty, Joseph Moremi, deflected the ball back into his own net in an attempt to clear.

Joe Express replaced Ndivhuwo Mulovhedzi with Juliet Nguvhane towards the end of the first half. Nguvhane’s introduction marked the turning point of the game. He combined well with Thembisnai Nevhulamba at the forefront. Realizing that the distribution was poor, Joe Express strengthened their midfield by replacing Kabota Maduka with Tshifhiwa Ramatsea three minutes into the last half.

They took the lead in the 59th minute. Laymond Muleya was on target, following a square pass from Mashudu Tshitaka. Mighty FC lost their original fighting spirit with time and were severely punished. Joe Express increased the margin in the 74th minute. Their top goal scorer, Thembisani Nevhulamba, scored with a half volley.

Realizing that victory was almost certain, Joe Express introduced their vastly experienced midfielder, Dzivhuluwani Simba, for Ndivhuwo “Segere” Ravhuhali. Mighty sacrificed Abraham Ogboru, who gave way to Sifiso Masina. Juliet Nguvhane scored Express's fourth goal in the 80th minute.

The keeper of Joe Express, Reason Mbedzi, was cautioned with a card for the use of abusive language in the dying minutes of the game.
