Khubvi Peace Makers gave Beuster Mighty Chiefs no peace when they beat them 5-3 in their MTG and PIB Soccer Challenge quarterfinal match at the Makhuvha Stadium on Saturday.
It took Peace Makers only five minutes to stamp their authority on the match. Their overlapping midfielder, Rudzani Mbengeni, beat the offside trap and sent in a rocket from the edge of the box. That was a wake-up call for Mighty Chiefs.
They regrouped from behind, frustrating the opponents through their dribbling skills and levelled matters. Peace Makers took the lead again in the 19th minute. Rudzani Madambi headed home after a free kick that was taken by Lufuno Mabila.
The wheel of fortune turned against Mighty Chiefs again seven minutes afterwards. Rudzani Madambi scored with a bicycle kick after a scramble within the box. Mighty Chiefs pulled one back before the teams adjourned for the half-time break. Khathu Nemahunguni was on target with a half-volley.
Mighty Chiefs approached the last half aggressively, with their strikers looking thirsty for goals. They found the equalizer nine minutes into the last half. Rialivhuwa Muthivhi went loose from the right corner and beat the keeper with a ground cutter.
Mighty Chiefs replaced Khathu Khavhela with Dzivhuluwani Phadagi in the 60th minute. Peace Makers responded by introducing Thembuluwo Tsilatsila for Lufuno Mabila moments later.
Peace Makers took the game to Chiefs after the replacements. Their fast forward, Thomani Mafukasaga, scored two beautiful goals in quick succession. He headed home after a corner kick that was taken by Rudzani Mbengeni in the 74th minute. Mafukasaga was on target again two minutes later. This time around he blasted in a rocket from close range.
