The tug of war for the services of Roggert Nyundu (27) intensified this week as the star striker was nowhere to be found.

Last month, Black Leopards reported that the player had signed a three-year contract with them.  Nyundu was on loan to Black Leopards during the past season and he scored 18 goals in 17 games for Lidoda Duvha in all competitions.

In a press conference, the Polokwane City boss, Mr Johnny Mokgaladi, said that Nyundu is still their player after he was loaned to Leopards the previous season. Nyundu was expected back at City on the first of July when the players started training in preparation for the new season. The striker returned from trials in Norway last week, but he was not offered a contract.

It was reported that he will be going overseas for another trial soon, where he will negotiate a contract himself. The married man and father of two was quoted in the media as saying that he will not go back to City, because he earned only R5 000 per month, whereas at Leopards he received R10 000.

The chief operations officer of Polokwane City, Mr Tincy Tema, said that Nyundu ould rejoin his team mates at a training camp next week. He added that Nyundu was busy arranging the funeral of his late sister. “We expect him back at training next week after his loan expires at Black Leopards."

Nyundu could not be reached for comment.
