A pupil from Tshilwavhusiku Razwimisani Special School, Lucky Ndou (23), has promised to do his utmost to win a medal at the Special Olympics Summer World Games in the USA.
He is specialising in the 5 000 metres race and says he doesn't want to disappoint the people of South Africa. He left for the USA on Saturday. During a farewell event in his honour at the school last Friday, he emphasised that he wants to win the gold medal. "My training has been going very well and I'm very fit. I am also happy with my performance in the build-up to the big competition," said Ndou. He thanked his coaches, Mr Makonde Makhumisani and Mpho Lishivha.
The principal the school, Ms Mufunwa Ramutshila, said the it was very exciting to send one of the school's pupils to the event. “Tshilwavhusiku Razwimisani Special School is indeed a place of successful people. What you have achieved does not come cheaply, but through commitment.”
The Soutpansberg West Circuit manager, Ms Christina Ramovha, said that her department was happy and proud of Lucky.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
