It is official. The relationship between Black Leopards and the head coach, Mr Zeca Marques, is now part of history.

The marriage between the two parties came to an end last Friday. According to the spokesperson of the club, Mr Berry Ramunenyiwa, Marques cited family problems as some of the reasons that prompted him to cut his relationship with the club short.

When asked about his new destination, Marques said that he was still making up his mind before making the next move. Although he vehemently refused to comment, Limpopo Mirrorwas reliably informed that Marques is considering taking up an offer as assistant coach for the Absa Premier League side Bidvest Wits.

According to Marques, there was no feud between him and the club before his departure and that the two parties had parted ways in an amicable way. Ramunenyiwa indicated that it was not easy for the club to say goodbye to Marques, saying it was just not easy for them to stop him.

Ramunenyiwa further revealed that they are busy searching for a competent substitute.

Marques joined Black Leopards in January this year. His move to the Thohoyandou outfit came four months after his dismissal from the then Absa Premiership League side, Moroka Swallows, following a string of poor results. Black Leopards were lying somewhere in the bottom half of the sixteen-team log when Mr Marques joined the club.

Apart from the fact that Black Leopards finished their league programme in the third spot under the guidance of Marques, they had something else to be proud off. They were booted out of the Nedbank Cup completion in the quarterfinal stage. Their way to the quarterfinal stage of the competition went via FC Cape Town, whom they beat 5-1 in the last-32 stage. They met Kaizer Chiefs in the last-16 stage and beat them 2-1 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. They were eventually booted out 3-2 by Vasco da Gama.
