This year’s champions of the Irfani Soccer Tournament will be crowned at the Thohoyandou Technical High School this afternoon (Friday).
Four schools, Thohoyandou Technical High School, Marude High School, Thohoyandou Secondary School and Liivha High School, are taking part in the one-day event.
The opening match is scheduled to start at 08:00, when Liivha will test their strength against Marude. Thohoyandou Secondary and Thohoyandou Technical will meet in the second semi-final at 10:00. The two teams that will be booted out in the first two matches will meet the losers’ final match at 13:00.
The winners of the first two matches will battle it out for the championship in the final later in the afternoon. According to the statement from the organizers, the champions will be presented with R2000, soccer kit and a floating trophy. The runners-up will take home two soccer balls and R1 000 cash. The third-placed team will receive R700 and a soccer ball, while R300 and a soccer ball are awaiting the team that will finish on fourth place.
The best player and the top goal scorer in the tournament will each receive R150.
