Benny’s Care were too strong for Zoutpansberg Powerline and beat them 3-1 in a Mamubezou tournament match at the Tshiozwi grounds on Sunday.

Powerline created some promising moves from behind in the opening minutes, but their strikers let them down by shooting aimlessly. Their overlapping midfielder, Vhutshilo Mafunisa, had his chance in the 15th minute. He received a neat pass from Ridzani Nebulu and shot wide from just outside the box.

Benny’s were rewarded with a goal in the 30th minute. Masingita Shabangu was on target, following a mix-up within the box. Powerline lost cohesion in the middle of the park after the goal. They were severely punished and Benny’s made it 2-0 before the half-time whistle. Their second goal came via Bonani Macheke, whose close-range ground cutter was too hot for the Powerline keeper, Mbavhi Mufamadi, to handle.

Things turned against Powerline three minutes into the last half. Their right back, Thabiso Makatu, was given his marching orders, following a second bookable offence. Benny’s scored their third goal in the 64th minute when Mutshidzi Nemaxwi beat the keeper with a volley after beating the offside trap.

A consolation goal for Powerline was scored by Ronald Ramalapa late in the game.
