9-0 drubbing for Havava

In their Vhembe Masters Soccer League match at the Makwarela Stadium on Sunday, Stamina Free Masters taught Havava Masters a soccer lesson when they crushed them 9-0.

Havava played the first 35 minutes of the game with only nine men, due to the late arrival of some of their key players. Realizing that it would be difficult for them to find their way through the defence of Stamina, Havava played defensive football throughout the first half.

The wheel of fortune turned against the visitors from Thohoyandou in the 24th minute. The slender striker of Stamina, Tsumbedzo “Zoo” Manamela, blasted in a rocket from the edge of the box.  The keeper of Havava, Lutendo Nemaguvhuni, could not help but watch helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net.

Realizing that there was nothing to defend anymore, Havava committed suicide by trying to play attacking football. That gave Stamina Free enough chance dictate terms in all departments. Motheo Lebakeng was on target in the 27th minute. He received a neat pass from Given Mpfumba and unleashed a powerful shot from inside the box. Ntambudzeni “Manani” Mundalamo scored the third goal three minutes later. Manamela completed his brace in the 36th minute, following a square pass from Motheo Lebakeng.

Ntambudzeni Mundalamo and Motheo Lebakeng scored in quick succession to bring the half-time score to 6-0.

Stamina strengthened their midfield by introducing Mashudu Mathoma and Wesley Kutama for Avhashoni Magoma and Motheo Lebakeng respectively. They increased the margin in the 69th minute. Ike Mechieobi forced his way through the defence of Havava and beat the keeper with a ground cutter. Mechieobi and Zoo Manamela scored the last two later in the game.
