Thohoyandou Stadium will be a centre of attention on Sunday. That is where the much-awaited NFD League match between Black Leopards and Cape Town All Stars will take place.
The match is extremely important to both Stars and Lidoda Duvha for a number of reasons. All Stars are currently leading the pack with nine points, while Black Leopards are only two points behind. Should Leopards collect full points on Sunday, Leopards will move to the top position.
Leopards have a score to settle with All Stars, who brutally walloped them 4-1 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town last season. The Leopards’ defenders must keep a watchful eye on the Stars’ goal poachers, Tswarelo Bereng and Houston Hills, or else they will regret it.
The good news about Black Leopards is that their overlapping right back, Marks Munyai, will be available for selection on Sunday. Munyai was not part of the team that beat Mthatha Bucks 2-0 at the Mthatha Stadium last Saturday, due to injury. Leopards will pin their hopes on their sharpshooters, Ruggert Nyundu, Thembisani Nevhulamba and Leonard Ntshangase, for goals.
The match is scheduled to start at 15:00.
The gogos’ teams, Tsatsawane Senior Citizens FC and Nyelisani Community FC, will play in the first match of the day at 10:00. Phalaphala FC will lock horns with Univen FC at 12:00.
In other NFD matches, Mthatha Bucks will fly to Cape Town for their match against FC Cape Town at the NNK Rugby Stadium. Moroka Swallows will host Mbombela United at the Dobsonville Stadium and Santos will have a date with Royal Eagles at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
Milano United must win their home match against Highlandspark in order to restore their pride, following a sequence of unimpressive results in the past weeks. African Warriors will play against Amazulu at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in Phuthaditshaba, while Baroka will be the visitors in their match against Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.
