One of the Limpopo NFD sides, Baroka FC, proved that they really mean it when they say they want to finish their league programme on top of the log this year, when they brutally walloped the much-feared Thanda Royal Zuly 4-0 at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay on Saturday.
Sam Ndlovu scored a brace in the first half, while Thabiso Kutumela followed suit in the last stanza. Baroka remain in the second spot on the log with 10 points, two behind the pace setters, Cape Town All Stars. The newly promoted Mthatha Bucks are still to win a league match, following their 1-1 draw with FC Cape Town at the NNK Rugby Stadium in Cape Town.
Tebogo Makungo scored for the Eastern Cape side in the fourth minute. Bucks held on to the lead until the 84th minute, when Bafana Kali leveled the score with a fine header.
Milano United went down 2-0 to Highlandspark at the Blue Downs in Cape Town. Both goals came in the last half - the first via Mbuyi Thibetha, who blasted in a rocket in the 47th minute, and then with David Brown hitting the target three minutes before the final whistle.
Vasco da Gama suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Witbank Spurs at the Puma Rugby Stadium in eMalahleni. Julius Likontsane scored a brace, while the third one was scored by Thabo Makhele.
Santos had an unforgettable afternoon when they lost 1-4 to Royal Eagles at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban. There was a goalless stalemate at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in Phuthaditshaba as African Warriors shared the spoils with Amazulu. Back in Thohoyandou, Black Leopards lost 0-2 to Cape Town All Stars in front of their home crowd.
