MULEDANE – Muledane Dragon Beaters are the champions for the Eastgate Panelbeaters Ladies Soccer Tournament. They walloped Shayandima Golden Stars 7-0 in the final of the tournament that was staged at the Muledane grounds on Sunday.
The game was a one way traffic flow from the start with Dragon Beaters enjoying possession of the ball. Apart from the fact that their players are skillful, Dragon Beaters had the full backing of their home crowd. Their first five goals were scored during the first half.
Lorraine Thame was the first to hit the target. She used her height advantage to win the ball from the Stars’ defender, Fhedzisani Mudau, and sent in a rocket from close range. The home side increased the tally in the 24th minute via Mukundi Tshinyalanai.
Golden Stars came back into the game and initiated some promising moves from the middle of the park but it was difficult for them to find their way through the Dragon Beaters defence. Dragon Beaters went on search-ing for more goals and their efforts did not go without a reward.
They scored three more goals in quick succession to bring the half-time score to 5-0. The three goals were scored by the diminutive Hulisani Dzivhani, Pfano Nemutandani and Lorraine Thame in the 27th, 34th and 38th minute respectively.
The second half was no different from the first one as Golden Stars were still out of touch. The strikers for Dragon Beaters realized that victory was certain and they started to display their dribbling skills. They scored the last two goals later in the game through Mukundi Tshinyalani and Pfano Nemutandani.
