After dropping points to Gawula Classic at the Giyani Stadium two weeks ago, Joe Maweja rectified their mistakes and collected maximum points in their ABC Motsepe League match last weekend.
They beat Mosesetjane All Stars 2-1 at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Saturday. Walter Netshimbulu, Maweja’s top goal scorer, continued to impress the technical team. He scored the opening goal in the 26th minute. All Stars retaliated in the 37th minute via Lawrence Selopetso.
The goal which earned Joe Maweja the three significant points was scored by Mashudu Makhari towards the end of the game. He tapped in the ball after a scramble within the box. Joe Maweja are now lying in the fourth-last position on the log. They have six points accumulated from three matches.
The pace setters, Lephalale Young Killers, maintained their lead by beating Polokwane United 2-1 at the TT Cholo Stadium. David Kekana and Steven Moropa scored for Young Killers while United's solitary goal was an honour to Freddy Bopape.
After losing three matches in a row, Mighty FC came back from the graveyard and beat Bilika All Stars 1-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Nkowankowa Barcelona managed to collect the maximum points when they beat Polokwane Academy 2-1 at the Polokwane Rugby Stadium. Bellevue Winners Park lost league points to Magezi FC at the TT Cholo Stadium in Polokwane. Magezi and Bellevue are the hot league-title contenders. Great North FC brutally walloped A1 Terrors 4-1 at the Seshego Stadium.
In their Giyani derby at the Giyani Stadium on Saturday, Gawula Classic beat Giyani Hotspurs 2-1. Gawula Classic are now lying on the fourth spot on the log with 17 points gained from eight matches.
