Amazing victory for Leopards

Black Leopards ended their goal drought when they registered a convincing 5-2 victory at the expense of FC Cape Town in their National First Division League match at the NNK Rugby Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.

The Thohoyandou outfit took the lead in the 11th minute when Phathutshedzo Nange headed home, following a square pass from Lebohang Mabotja. Mpho Ramatapa beat the offside trap nine minutes later and put Lidoda Duvha further ahead. The African Beasts pulled one back in the 37th minute, when Sekela Sithole caught the Leopards’ keeper, Avhashoni Tshinuna, napping and blasted in a rocket to bring the half-time score to 2-1.

The home side levelled matters through the former Black Leopards striker, Maboke Matlakala, who unleashed a powerful shot from close range.

Matlakala's goal seemed to be an insult to Leopards. They scored two quick goals via Ivan Mahangwahaya and Leonard Ntshangase in the 74th and 77th minute respectively. Mahangwahaya was on target again nine minutes later, to bring the final score to 5-2.

Nkosinathi Ndlovu scored the only goal of the game when his side, Baroka FC, beat Mthatha Bucks 1-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. An own goal by Cody August was good enough to give Witbank Spurs three points in their match against Santos at the Puma Rugby Stadium.

Thanda Royal Zulu shared the spoils 1-1 with Vasco da Gama  in Richards Bay, while the struggling Moroka Swallows donated points to Amazulu, following their 1-2 defeat at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Mbombela United and Royal Eagles played to a goalless draw in Nelspruit, while African Warriors failed to impress their home crowd when they lost 0-1 to Highlandspark at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in Phuthaditshaba.
