The disciplinary committee of the Safa Vhembe League recently imposed heavy fines on several teams for wrongdoings.
During a meeting of the disciplinary committee in Thohoyandou, Maebane Young Eagles received a fine of R5 000 for assaulting Referee Ndifelani Mathabwe during their match against Makhith Ityarunga. Eagles were also found guilty of causing the abandonment of the match. The three match points were awarded to Iyarunga, while a player of Eagles, Moses Rambau, was found guilty of assaulting the referee and suspended for five games.
Maila Pull Together were fined R5 000 for bringing the league into disrepute in their match against Tshiozwi Dynamos. They forfeited the league points to their opponents.
Several cases were postponed, including the case against Lambani Giant Killers for allegedly assaulting the referee in their match against Kurhuleni Happy Fighters. Tshikota Chelsea appeared before the committee for causing the abandonment of the match against Mpheni Home Defenders. The match was stopped seven minutes before the final whistle. This case will also be concluded during the next session of the DC.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
