The MMK Administrators League match between Vhembe FET College and Maranzhe Hungry Lions at the Makwarela Stadium on Sunday ended in a 1-1 draw.
Hungry Lions were by far the better side when it came to possession of the ball. Their strikers let them down by shooting aimlessly from the goal mouth. Their right flank, Pfarelo Nemaranzhe, received a beautiful pass from Unarine Masuwanyise just outside the box in the seventh minute. He unleashed a volley from the 25-meter area and missed the target by inches.
Hungry Lions finally broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. Pfarelo Nemaranzhe blasted in a rocket, following a mix-up within the box. The students from Vhembe FET College gained momentum with time. They took the game to their opponents in the last 15 minutes of the first half, but their strikers kept on fumbling at the goal finish.
Hungry Lions nearly increased the margin in the 54th minute when Unarine Masuwanyise tried his luck with a long-range half volley. The keeper of Vhembe, Dakalo Mukwevho, braved the shot to execute a brilliant save.
Vhembe found the equalizer in the 64th minute. Fhatuwani Mathivha was on target with a ground cutter after a neat pass from Pfunzo Razwimisani. Hungry Lions created several promising moves in the dying minutes of the game, but their strikers were unlucky.
