Masisi FC are still in a celebratory mood after winning the annual MS Quality Bilisi Soccer Festival Tournament at the Tshenzhelani grounds in the Niani area last Sunday. They beat Sigonde FC 3-2 in the final.
The winner was determined through penalty shoot-out after the teams played to a 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time.
Masisi were presented with cash prize of R3 200, gold medals and floating trophy during a ceremony at the grounds shortly after the final. Sigonde FC took home R2 300. The teams booted out in the semifinals, Tshikuyu FC and Maramanzhi FC, each received R1 000.
Three Masisi players, Shumani “Bibo” Munyai ( most disciplined player), Khumbudzo Ramaano (best player in the tournament) and Ndivhuwo Munzhelele (best keeper), received gold medals during the ceremony. All the results of the tournament are: Sigonde 4, Mutele 2; Masisi 1, Tshenzhelani 0; Tshikuyu 3, Tuwani 2; Maramanzhi 2, Dzungani 0; Sigonde 2, Tshikuyu 1; Masisi 4, Maramanzhi 2 and Masisi 3, Sigonde 2.
The tournament was preceded by a 15 km fun run. Arthur Masikhwa won the men's division and Grace Manenzhe the ladies' race. During the ceremony, one of the organizers and the sponsor for the annual event, Mr Richard “Bilisi” Rambiyana, announced that he will continue to sponsor the tournament in the coming years, saying the sponsorship will also increase from time to time.
