The management of Black Leopards recently appointed a former striker of the team, Mulondo “Ronaldo” Shikhwivhilu, as team manager.

He was a powerful striker for Leopards and also played for Bafana Bafana.

“It is good to reunite with the Lidoda Duvha family. This is my home, because I was not well known before joining this team in 1997.” His football career started in the 1990s when he was playing for Tshirembe Velly Killers. He then heard that young players were doing trials at Black Leopards and his coach, Mr Killer Mulaudzi, helped him to attend the trials.

He succeeded and started playing for Lidoda Duvha in 1997. He moved to Orlando Pirates in the 2007/8 season and returned to Leopards again in 2009/10. He then moved to Supersport United and Dynamos and his football career ended in 2011 while he was playing for Bay United.

“I was a top goal scorer for many years in the Lidoda Duvha camp,” he added. According to him, one thing that traumatized him and his teammates was the death of their left back, Fernando “Nandos” Matola, a Mozambican who died with his family in a vehicle accident.

When his football career ended, he returned to the University of Venda to complete his degree in environmental studies. He established his own company,  dealing with environmental matters. He also worked for  Tshikovha Environmental in Pretoria but decided to return home to Vhembe early this year to continue building his company.

According to him, Leopards is a big brand and “I want to see the team going back to the Premier Soccer League where it belongs. It is high time now. I want to see the team getting promotion to the PSL at the end of the season.”
