Matika FC beat Magau United 3-2 in their Erling Matika challenge match at Tshikota on Saturday.

Matika approached the game aggressively, with their strikers showing a great appetite for goals. Mpho Mulaudzi of United was the first player to go into the referee’s book when he tackled Dakalo Nwanamidwa from behind just outside the penalty box.

Matika were leading by a goal at half time. Their opening goal came in the 35^th minute. Munei Mafunisa scored with a header after a corner kick by Germany Tshikovhi.

Matika were the first to effect a change to their starting line-up. They replaced Shandu Mabirimisa with Mashudu Nengovhela in the third minute of the second half. Nengovhela formed a deadly combination with Dakalo Nwanamidwa at the forefront.

Matika increased the margin in the 54^th minute. Dakalo Nwanamidwa was on target after intercepting a back pass. United reduced the margin in the 67^th minute. Phumudzo Seleka headed home after a corner kick by Rosthidzwa Madima.

After the goal, United lost shape in the middle of the park. Gift Ndou scored the third goal for Matika after a scramble within the box. Phineus Mulea was on target in the 84^th minute to bring the full-time score to 3-2. He finished off a rebound after Mpho Mulaudzi tried his luck from outside the box.
