Limpopo Cricket Union gets first-class status

Sport  Date: 10 March 2006

The Limpopo Cricket Union received first-class status as from next season but all is not well from the side of UCBSA (United Cricket Board of South Africa).

“Too many concerns were raised as to what the exact process of funding will be for Limpopo. The executive, under guidance of Vice-President Imraan Bhamjee, met on Friday night and these concerns were discussed,” says Mr Wilco Niemandt, the CEO of the Limpopo Cricket Union. Niemandt was tasked to invite the UCBSA to visit the union in order to solve the concerns. On Monday, March 20, the Executive of the Limpopo Cricket Union will meet with Messrs Max Jordaan (Manager Amateur Cricket UCBSA) and Don McIntosh (General Manager: Finance UCBSA) in order to discuss and to solve these concerns.

The Limpopo Cricket Union also hosted a very successful club seminar over the weekend whereby the strengthening of clubs was discussed. Certain changes were discussed and resolutions were made.

“The way forward for Limpopo Cricket is one of positiveness and opportunity for all,” Niemandt said upon concluding the seminar. “There is a positive process that will now follow to ensure better opportunities and the clubs that attended must be congratulated for their efforts and positive input in this regard,” he added.
